You Hold The Puppet Strings
I am not my job; it is simply how I fund my debauchery. That’s how I put this whole jobless thing to someone, and that’s about the truth. After the initial “well, fuck” reaction, I’ve had some time to consider what path I’d like to take. Really? IT may not be for me, not long term. I enjoy some aspects of it (fixing things, travel) but other aspects are just no fun. Given that I’ve got skills in that area, though, I’ll probably stick with it for a bit longer… but I may not depending on what else comes up.
So, here’s your opportunity. What do you think I’d be good at? What job should I be doing? I can’t guarantee that I’ll take you seriously, but I’ll at least READ all of the ideas.
Don’t know me? Just take a wild shot. You never know, you might hit on something!
If you give me a great idea and it makes me rich and awesome, I’ll hook you up. See? Something in it for everyone.

About what, not knowing what to write about?

Probably, but IT is getting kinda boring of late. Fitness… eh. I mean, I can hardly stand it for me!

If you figure out something that isn't IT, but allows you to start with an IT-ish salary, let me know; I've been thinking about that one for months now and all I can come up with is "A different job, still within the IT universe, that lets me leverage previous salary/job title" or Go back and get a masters degree and start all over at 20-30% of what I could make from the first option. Can't justify it.
What should you do that isn't IT… sell cars?

Well, it depends on your definition of ITish salary. Some of my IT pals make $25K, while others are making 90+K. What's your ITish range? I've found other work that would be slightly less, but could be absorbed.
I thought about a couple of things. Firefighting would be a pay cut but it'd be fun. Police doesn't work; all anti-authority and all. Sometimes I want to say "fuck it" and go with something brainless.
Actually, I saw an "at home" Canon tech job if you're interested. Pay isn't great, but you'd not have to go anywhere.

I went to school for IT, was in IT for years……but now I'm a Chef, making more than I ever did with tech. Can you cook?

I am competent, if uninspired. Cooking isn't really something I'd be interested in doing as a job, though. More than 30 minutes and I'm going for fast food.
